Mark Smith is a respected HR consultant with a Ph.D. in organizational psychology and key experience in talent acquisition and assessments of both job applicants and employees. He has personally assessed about 1,000 employees and candidates at different levels across many organizations.

He was recently named one of the top 50 HR Professionals and HR Leaders of 2024. He is also on the Scientific Advisory board for Xobin, one of the world’s most trusted online assessment software for pre-employment testing and job skill assessments. Throughout his career, Mark has contributed significantly to advancing hiring practices and talent management strategies. He has developed a reputation for creative approaches to candidate assessments, as well as an understanding of validation and research projects for all types of workplace issues.

In recent years, he presented expert testimony to the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce about the use of assessments for skills-based hiring. He also worked with the Board on Human-Systems Integration for the National Academy of Science regarding the future of work.

He currently works as a consultant and advisor with all levels of employees for a variety of organizations. His primary focus has been helping companies stay competitive by hiring the right people.

He received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees (I-O Psychology) from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and his B.A. (Psychology) from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan and graduated from Kalamazoo Christian High School.

Mark and his wife, Kira, are also accomplished ballroom dancers and are in the Gold level of Arthur Murray Dance in Alexandria, VA. He has also danced in performances of the Nutcracker and Don Quixote with the Virginia Ballet Company in Burke, VA.
